Meigs County operates three convenience centers to serve our residents’ residential sanitation and solid waste needs. Although the Ten Mile Collection Center is the closest center for the use of 5th District residents, all convenience centers are open for use by residents of any five county districts.
These centers are funded through roughly 4.42% of the county's annual property tax revenue, as determined by the Property Tax Levy and the Annual Fiscal County Budget. While sanitation services fall under the authority of the County Mayor's office, I serve on the Sanitation Committee and am actively involved in finding effective solutions to improve our county’s sanitation services.
One of our main priorities is addressing the challenges faced by the Ten Mile Convenience Center, which frequently closes due to capacity issues. Additionally, the sanitation department currently operates with a budget deficit that requires supplemental funding from other budget line items each year. As a committee member, I am committed to working toward sustainable solutions to ensure our sanitation services meet the needs of all residents, both now and in the future.
